Hello! I’m Melisa with one “s”. I’m a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, graphic designer, and recovering procrastinator. I am a Virgo, which I think means I am sensitive, a (bit) neurotic, organized in some areas, and very disorganized in others.

I believe that you should be kind, always. I am a consummate optimist and sometimes often worry too much. My husband – John – is the love of my life and the most wonderful, chivalrous man I know. We went to kindergarten together but didn’t officially start dating until we were teenagers, and we’ve been together ever since. Our 5-year-old daughter – Olivia – is a joy beyond words and a constant means of amusement.

We are from a small town in Western Washington where our families still reside. I talk to my wonderful, motorcycle-riding, bowling-leaguing mom every day.

We call the little island of Bainbridge home and we are living a blessed life with eight seven chickens and one slightly-off cat.

I am on a mission to stop putting off until tomorrow what I could be doing today. I have no idea where this will take me, but this is my story.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I came to your blog just yesterday from Katie’s suggestion on “Runs for Cookies” Then I saw on my local news website today (in Indiana) that the fireworks display in Bainbridge Island was accidently blown up! I thought that was quite the coincidence! Anyway, love the blog and your sense of humor πŸ™‚

    • Hi there! Thanks so much for stopping by! That is CRAZY and even more crazy is that I hadn’t even heard of it and I live here! πŸ™‚ Just had to go Google it. Glad everyone is OK. Thanks again!

      • In Portland. I have been up in LaConner and Whidbey in the past year. So pretty. Heading to Seattle on the 19th, any ideas for fun with teens???

      • We LOVE Portland! My post today is going to be about my 7th marathon which was Portland (please don’t be offended when I tell you that I LOVE your city and HATED your marathon! :). For things to do with teens in Seattle, here are some things they might like:

        – Pike Place Market to throw a fish.
        – The chewed gum wall.
        – The Ride a Duck tour.
        – The Underground Seattle tour.
        – Experience Music Project.

        Have fun!
