As a limerick:
There was a pale girl with no tan
And that’s where her real troubles began
She played out in the sun
And exclaimed, “Oh! How fun!
But this burn was not part of my plan.”
As a haiku:
bright orb in the sky
why do you mock my fair skin?
i can’t stay away

As a public service announcement:
USE SUNSCREEN. APPLY LIBERALLY. REPEAT.
On my to-do list today? Buy more aloe vera.
What are you up to this weekend? I’d love to hear from you!
Ouch Melisa, that looks painful! We are celebrating my Dad’s birthday this weekend.
Thanks, Gena. It is, but it’s my own darn fault! Hope you have a lovely celebration!
We should have added some pearls to the picture, would have looked good against that bright red. So sorry love. Not sure how I escaped any. Just thing of the awesome northwest tan you will have soon. if only you’d had socks and shorts on to match.
Ha ha! Funny. Thank you for (always) taking such good care of me.
This came a day late and a dollar short. I was at the beach for the fourth and got roasted like a marshmallow. The kids got their sunscreen but their mom sure didn’t. Funny how that works.
Uh, yeah. True that, sista. Olivia was slathered up like nobody’s biz. BUT, she now sees the importance of it, that is fo-sho.
Holla!
ooh that’s gotta sting? Lesson learned?
Oh, yes it does. And? Let’s hope.
Plain Greek yoghurt will take the sting and redness out. It does begin to smell if you leave it on too long though.
Oooh, I love greek yogurt! A snack, too, positioned so conveniently close to my mouth. Win-win!
I am new to your blog (and loving it)… came over after a posting on Runs for Cookies 🙂
So sorry about your burn. My husband and I got very burned about a week ago. Mine was in crazy places… groin, behind knees, and my butt, ugh! My recommendation is stay moisturized and try not to use soap/shampoo for the first 2-3 days. For moisturizer, I think coconut oil was the best!
Thank you so much, B.C.! I just started blogging about a month ago and am really having so much fun. As for your burn, all I can say is OUCHIE OUCHIE OUCHIE!! So sorry! I am totally trying the coconut oil. I’ve started molting today, but I promise – no pictures! 🙂
Guuurrrllll, I should kick you. Only teasing… ouch!! How’s the molting treating you?
Girlfriend, I deserve it! I’m an itchy, healing mess.
Ouch! Get the aloe vera gel. Ahhh, so soothing. And hey, at least there is some sun from which to get a burn! I was beginning to think summer was just an urban legend.
I know, right? Yay for sun! Boo for sunburns!
Oh no! (But Aloe rules). I am fair and have to be careful. I try to hide from the sun but it doesn’t always work–lots of pool time this weekend 😉
Fair skin, unite! Hope you had a fun weekend!
OMG poor thing! This is a good, helpful article that people should read before going out into the sun. I don’t think a lot of people realize how dangerous the rays are. I just wrote an article explaining the importance and different types of sunscreen/SPF on my blog if you want to check it out:
Thanks,
Casey
Hi Casey! I will definitely check it out! I am LOLing over here because it looks like you inadvertently commented on my post about my big boobs and the first line of your comment was “OMG you poor thing!” – I DO feel that way about my big boobs sometimes, though! 🙂
Haha I just meant the sunburn!
Oh wait! My rookie blog mistake! You DID respond on my sunburn post but I read it on my boob post! OK, still LOL’ing… 🙂 Thank you for stopping by!
You know, most brilliant art comes from the pain of the creator. Thank you for sharing your poetry!
Oh thank you so much! I am molting now but I promise, no pictures of THAT! 🙂
