celebrity sightings and celebrations.

Last night was a benefit auction that we attend every year, and it happened to fall on our “Longevity Anniversary” weekend. Yeah, we’re the romantic saps that celebrate both our wedding anniversary AND the anniversary of when we got together.

We’ve been together for 20 years (yay for love!) and we decided to celebrate this milestone in style.

We had a Fairmont of fun (get it? Fairmont, fair amount?). Ok, that was pretty weak, but still, we had fun at this beautiful place in downtown Seattle.

Their staff was friendly and welcoming…

…and very accommodating. When we checked in, they congratulated us on our anniversary and upgraded our room. Love has its privileges!

The place is beautiful: classic yet comfortable. Stylish yet sophisticated. We love visiting this property during Christmastime, too – they really know how to do the holidays right.

The room even came with a free pair of boots. Just kidding, those are John’s.

No bed is complete without a little black dress. Just kidding, it’s not that little.

Before heading out, we made sure to get a couple of prom photos in the lobby:

The auction we attended was put on by the Detlef Schrempf Foundation and is also a Celebrity Gala.

No event is complete without an ice sculpture. It had bottles of vodka suspended in it, too. I was tempted to chip away at the ice with the heel of my shoe to see if I could get the bottles out, but that would have been awkward. I sure hope those bottles didn’t go to waste.

OK, I’m just going to admit it: I’m easily star-struck. I spent most of the night on a scavenger hunt for celebrity photo ops.

Luckily I’m married to a patient man.

Here I am with comedian Ryan Stiles, best known for his role on Whose Line Is It Anyway? and the Drew Carey Show. He’s also a father and an all-around good guy.

My iPhone cover has a picture of Olivia on it, and every single one of the celebrities I cornered met asked about her. Way to keep it real, fellas. Apparently stars are just people too, after all.

Or at least that’s what John’s always telling me.

Here I am with local celebrity Jesse Jones:

He has a segment called “Get Jesse” on King 5 TV. He’s a consumer advocate and clearly a good guy since he didn’t blink twice when some crazy wacko interrupted his dinner for a quick picture. Can you believe some people?

I also chased down ran into Jason Mesnick, best known for the controversy he ignited on The Bachelor.

It was kinda hard to judge him, though, since he told me my kid was so cute. Works every time.

And here’s the big guy himself!

No, that’s not Santa. That’s Detlef Schrempf! Talk about a nice guy. And tall. Man, that dude is tall.

Last but not least, here we are with Captain Keith from The Deadliest Catch.

Finally I get the hubs to join in on the fun!

Here are the happy love birds during the Live Auction dinner. Our paddle card totally photo bombed the shot:

I loved the little heart stones they had with the name cards. Aren’t they cute? Of course I forget to steal take them with me at the end of the night. Bummer!

After the event, you better believe we had to hit our favorite spot to get jiggy with it:

This is Gay Pride Week so the place was jam-packed. We could hardly move, which I think actually helped with our dancing skills. It was great fun though to be experiencing the celebration of love that comes in all of sorts of combinations, colors, shapes and sizes. And apparently, bare sweaty backs.

Finally, it was time to hail a cab and head to our 4-star home for the night. When we got to our room, we found this waiting for us:

Did I mention this place knows how to do it right?

On the to-do list for today: sweat out last night’s celebratory cocktails with a 5-mile run. Wish me luck.

What did you get up to this weekend? I’d love to hear from you!

  1. Hello, Blondie!! You were having a great hair night – fabulous! We spent much of the weekend sweating it out (outside) between baby pools, friend’s baby pools, sprinklers, and slip-n-slides (noted: Emma Mae is not a fan of slipping). We were all in our jammies by 6:30pm. I organized half of my closet goal 🙂

  2. #1 Happy Anniversary
    #2 Love the LBD
#3 Looks like so much fun
#4 Who takes your kid overnight? Big Daddy and I really need an over-nighter!

    • #1 Thank you!
#2 Thank you! I got it for 13 bucks
      #3 It was!
#4 We have a few overnight go-tos: this time was an old friend on the Seattle side. We used to do sleep-over swaps. SO GOOD for Mom and Dad. We’ve met a few families on the island that were interested in doing sleep-over test-drives so we’ve done it a couple of times since moving here. Let’s talk about a swap!

  3. celebrities!!!! love it.

my aunt lives in bellevue and her kids went to school with detlef’s and she always said he was a really nice down to earth dude.

    • Is there any chance your aunt has curly hair and is married to a guy named John? We met a sweet couple at the auction whose kids went to school with Detlef’s!! I’m just sayin’, how crazy would that be if we met your aunt.

  4. Hi there… I’m new to your blog courtesy of Katie over at Runs For Cookies. I’ve just been reading June and love your anniversary at the Fairmont story but what I really love (covet) is your iPhone cover, where can I order one (with my own kid’s pix, of course)?! ~ Janet

    • Hi Janet! Welcome and thank you SO MUCH for stopping by! I really love that iPhone cover, too, thank you. I ordered it from zazzle.com. I thought for the quality of what I got, the price was reasonable (it was about 35 dollars I think). Also it was very easy to do! Report back on how it turns out for you!
